CA.MI. is my chosen artistic name; the first letters of my full name: Casula Michela. I am a Sardinian painter and muralist, active since 1997. My works are born from the intertwining of personal memory and a collective gaze: I create compositions that speak to our times: the contradictions of society, the need for empathy, the fragile relationship between humanity and nature. Each work is an open dialogue with the viewer: between souls who have never met, yet recognize each other, in a space where those who know how to observe can direct their gaze to find themselves. I work with chiaroscuro and newspaper clippings: a recurring and symbolically central material in my research; I use them not only as a simple decorative medium, but also: news, words, and current events are woven into the painted figures, becoming living matter and bringing with them fragments of the real world that become pictorial material, layers of events and meanings superimposed like history overlays the skin. Universal themes, filtered through a personal gaze and an immediately recognizable technique. I don't create simple images to look at, but stories and spaces to inhabit.
